About Our Team

Our dedicated team of instructors work with people of all ages, starting at 6 months, to develop safety skills and proper swimming technique.

About Us

Our Mission

We are bringing a unique method of swim instruction to Southeastern Idaho that is specifically designed to help all ages develop the ability to interact safely with water. We offer lessons for infants, toddlers, and non-swimmers that give them the skills to safely interact with water and prepare them to use correct swimming technique. Whether you are looking for more family confidence on your summer vacation, or preparing your child for a future swim team, we are ready and able to help you reach your goals. We specialize in working with babies and toddlers on self-rescue in case of emergency. Drowning continues to be the leading cause of accidental death in children ages 1-4. Studies have found that swim lessons that put safety first can be an added layer of protection and lowers the chances of a child ending up in a drowning accident.

Emilee

Head instructor and Co-founder

Emilee is our head instructor and co-founder at Mountain Wave Swimming. She has spent the past eight years teaching stroke technique and water safety skills to children and adults ranging in age from 2 months to 60 years old, and particularly loves working with infants and kids with special needs. As a child and young adult she competed on various competitive swim teams, including the Rigby HS (Rigby, ID) and Kelly Walsh HS (Casper, WY) varsity swim teams.

This spring, Emilee will be teaching in the afternoons/evenings, and some Thursday and Saturday mornings. She will also be assisting with Mommy and Me, Group Lessons, training new instructors, and managing the office.

Allyson

Allyson

Co-founder

Allyson is our cofounder at Mountain Wave Swim School. She was first introduced to Water Safety Lessons a few years ago when she took her, then, 2-year old little boy to them. While he loved the water, he had snuck away many times to try and jump in alone. She was amazed at the progress he made and how quickly he became independent in the water. She had taught swim lessons for five years previously but quickly decided she wanted to be trained in Water Safety as well! She teaches lessons in Utah at private pools.

Elizabeth

Elizabeth

Instructor - Rigby facility

I am studying at BYUI, with a major in Early Childhood and Special Education. I have enjoyed swimming throughout my life, I started competitive swim in middle school and high school. I was the swim team captain for my last two years of high school. I enjoy my independence in the water, and I want to help other children experience that same comfort of being independent. I plan to live in Rexburg, with my husband, until I graduate from BYUI!

This spring I am teaching Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings!

What parents are saying: “Elizabeth is soft spoken, kind, and earned the trust of my panicky son easily. I feel like she did a good job pushing him while giving him the control. We were very grateful to her.”

Alexa

Alexa

Instructor - Rigby facility

Hi! I’m Alexa DelHoyo! I currently live in Rexburg with my husband, and I am an English Education major at BYU-I. I am one of the head istructors at Mountain Wave swimming, I have over six years of experience teaching swim lessons, and have been swimming for 14 years. I love having fun and singing songs in my classes!! I look forward to meeting you!

This spring I am teaching Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings! I will also be assisting with Mommy and Me, Group Lessons, and working in the office!

What parents are saying: “I love her style- incorporating songs (“I’m a little pancake” while floating) and chants (“Humpty Dumpty” when jumping into the water) into the lessons really helps my girls focus on the task at hand and stay calm in the water.”
